Mostly you want to change username in WordPress for security reason or misspelled username. It is mandatory for struggling against brute force attack towards your admin login. Now you found your database table wp_users, then select database table. Database prefix will differ depending on configuration, default is wp_ don’t confuse with database prefix.
Here you select users table you can ID, user_login, user_pass etc. Don’t edit anything unless you aware of it. I expect you noticed that your username located under user_login yep this is your name, change it to anything unpredictable for whom unauthorized users. Because it might prevent from caught on brute force login attempts.
Step 2 : Change WordPress username by Plugin
Another simple way to change your WordPress username is by using a plugin. If you are one of those users who don’t want to install a plugin for every little thing, then let us assure you that you can safely delete the plugin once you have changed your WordPress username.
First thing you need to do is install and activate the Username Changer plugin. Upon activation, simply go to Users » Username Changer page.
Select the username you want to change, and then enter the new username. Click on the save changes button and you are done.
